Five Nights at Candy's 4, otherwise simply known as FNAC 4 is an indie point-and-click fangame developed by Emil Macko, inspired by Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's franchise and officially recognized as part of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative. It is the fourth and final installment in the Five Nights at Candy's series.

The developer, Emil Macko, is working on creating this game concurrently with other projects, including FNAC FUR, POPGOES Evergreen, and Five Nights at Candy's 2 Remastered. Despite having previously announced that the third installment would be the final game in the series, Emil Macko has now officially confirmed that this latest game, Five Nights at Candy's 4, is indeed the concluding installment in the Five Nights at Candy's franchise.

The game's storyline revolves around an employee who enters the Rowboatic Corp. Factory outside normal working hours, given instructions, most specifically not to activate the animatronics on site. However, things take a turn for the worse as the teasers show the animatronics are not only active but also potentially hostile.

Description[]

This is the official game page for Five Nights at Candy's 4. This game is not complete yet, and more will definitely be added to this page as development progresses! So definitely stay tuned!

What is this game? Here are some core details:

  • It's a point-&-click free-roam game inspired by Sister Location, made in Clickteam. So it's not a full 3D game like you'd expect from something like the Unreal Engine.
  • The game is mostly non-linear in structure, so hopefully there'll be some replay value.
  • The graphics are all rendered with amazing modern software adding visual quality like never seen before in the FNAC series! (Possible subjective exception being Five Nights at Candy's Remastered).
  • Candy is indeed the main antagonist for once (the Rat has had his time in the spotlight!)
  • There are minigames (I just can't resist!)
  • This game has nothing to do with Mary Schmidt from the earlier FNAC games (nor anyone related to her). Mary's story is done, and instead, this time the focus falls on something important that's been relatively hidden in the background of the FNAC storyline; Rowboatics Corp.

Initially considered a mere idea by fans, Five Nights at Candy's 4 took them by surprise upon its announcement

In 2018, Five Nights at Candy's creator Emil Macko teased the possibility of a fourth game in the series, beginning with an April Fools post. In the video, Emil highlighted a series of comments from fans clamoring for the release of Five Nights at Candy's 4, a concept that had not yet been announced as a real game.

Towards the end of the video, a sleek redesign of the series' iconic character Candy the Cat was briefly shown, which many fans interpreted as a possible teaser for the then-unannounced character Forgotten Candy. Despite this teaser, Emil did not officially announce the development of Five Nights at Candy's 4 until months later.[1]

On June 11, 2018, a cryptic post by Emil Macko was seen on r/fivenightsafreddys. The cryptic message titled "Follow the Keys" contained an Imgur link showcasing an enigmatic image encompassed by a single row of rainbow-colored numbers, with the background fully consumed by the word "FORGOTTEN".[2]

Viewers must eliminate all colors except for one of the three shades present on the numbers, resulting in the discovery of three URLs listed below:

The following section is rather large and has been truncated for ease of page viewing.
To view it, click the [show] tag.

Key 1

Once clicking on the link provided from the Red puzzle, the viewer will be treated to a Google Documents folder titled "Base64" and further beginning with the text "How do you unsquare a square? with a series of numbers appearing below it. The numbers, in order, are the following:

100 900 2500
2809
1156 1936
2500 64 2209 3481
676 1521 841
1849 900 1444 900 1444 729 900 1849
2025 1600
1369 1600 1600 1296
1600 2116 2025
The riddle "How do you unsquare a square" alludes to the process of finding the original number that was squared. By applying mathematical operations, the player needs to determine the number that would result in the original value when squared. For instance, the square of 10 is 100. By performing similar calculations for all the numbers, although time-consuming, the player eventually discovers the decipher code.
10 30 50

34 44
50 8 47 59
26 39 29
43 30 38 30 38 27 30 43
45 40
37 40 40 35
40 46 45
As implied by the document's title, the player needs to enter the provided numbers into a Base64 decoder. This process will yield the following statement:
KEY

OUT
It seems that the sequence "Y1V5" is a component of a YouTube URL that guides to the "transmission" video, which was originally unlisted by Emil Macko before the ARG was finished. Once the whole puzzle was resolved, the video was published as an official teaser for Five Nights at Candy's 4. This discovery could be crucial for enthusiasts of the game in revealing additional information about it before its release.

Key 2

The second puzzle in the ARG is regarded as one of the simplest. Upon starting the puzzle, the viewer is directed to a private SoundCloud page that Emil Macko has posted. The audio on the page is scrambled and indecipherable, while the description reads "margortceps". To solve this puzzle, the viewer must unscramble the letters in the description to form the word "Spectrogram." As ARG specialists are aware, the viewer must enter the audio into a Spectrogram tool to retrieve the following sequence of words: "Key 2 is ZXM and remember to listen"

Key 3

The third puzzle in the ARG is one of the most vague, only depicting a series of plain colors as a background for a hexagon cracked into three pieces. As hinted by the hexagon, the viewer must locate the Hex codes (a method of naming letters, notably giving them a 6 diget sequence). After doing so, the viewer will get the following sequence of Hex codes.

4B6579
203320
697320
4C656C
6B2061
6E6420
72656D
656D62
657220
746F20
626520
717569
657400
With this sequence, the viewer must convert the entire sequence into letters. Each number representing a letter. The final sequence is the following:
KEY THREE IS LEIK AND REMEMBER TO BE QUIET

"transmission" Video.

With this sequence, the viewer gets the following sequence of symbols.

YIV5ZXMLEIK

After retrieving the sequence of words from the puzzles, the viewer must insert it into a YouTube URL as if it were a video ID. This ultimately solves the ARG and leads the viewer to an unlisted video titled "transmission," which was uploaded by none other than Emil Macko.

After the puzzle was solved, Emil Macko finally made an official announcement on September 1, 2018 about Five Nights at Candy's 4. Surprisingly, it took him three months to make this announcement. In the post, Emil revealed that Candy the Cat would be featured in the game and that development was currently underway. He also explained that he wanted to ensure that the game met his high standards before sharing the news with fans, and thanked them for their continued support throughout the process.[3]

I know that this is a thing that has been on a lot of people's wish lists ever since FNAC 3, but the main reason I haven't teased or even announced the game properly up until this point, was because I was afraid to turn this into another FNAC 3 situation.
Emil Macko

Alongside this Reddit poster, Emil Macko released one of the first teasers for Five Nights at Candy's 4, featuring a newer version of Candy the Cat (not to be confused with New Candy) in a dimly lit area, bathed in green illumination. The teaser featured the text, "I hope you didn't forget about me," fading into view through a cloud of darkness, adding an eerie tone to the trailer.[4]

After the official announcement, on September 22, 2018, Emil Macko appeared on Dawko's FNAF Show Youtube series alongside Kane Carter. While the video was more focused regarding previous installments and development, at the end of the video, a teaser for POPGOES Finale and a new teaser for Five Nights at Candy's 4 depicting the player holding a briefcase was revealed.[5]

On February 8, 2019, Emil Macko hosted his first livestream where he played several games created for the Fangames at Freddit's Game Jam. Towards the end of the livestream, Emil mentioned that he wanted to show a few memes before ending the stream. However, he surprised the community by dropping into a green-lit room that was intended to appear in Five Nights at Candy's 4. Emil quickly pulled down the gameplay, intentionally leaving fans wanting more. The surprise appearance of the room in the livestream fueled speculation and excitement among the game's fanbase.[6]

On April 3, 2019, Emil posted the games first update on Reddit. He states that the development of Chef Wanted, a game created alongside Kane Carter and turntail, took majority of the time away from Five Nights at Candy's 4. Although seemingly negative, alongside the fact that the game was further cancelled, the game allowed Emil to take a long-needed break on development and focus on another, more exciting project.

On August 14th, 2019, in celebration of Five Nights at Candy's fourth anniversary, Emil Macko released the highly anticipated Five Nights at Candy's Remastered. The game served as a nostalgic journey back to the original Five Nights at Candy's story and introduced some new features, including a secret night that could be unlocked. To unlock the secret night, players had to stare at The Rat's face in the Extras until he began twitching. By doing this, the player would receive a sequence of numbers that they must input into the game's Custom Night.

This would unlock Night Null, where the player must face off against Shadow Candy. If the player successfully completes Night Null, they are treated to a cutscene that reveals the full-body design of Forgotten Candy. This was a highly anticipated moment for fans who had been waiting for a glimpse of this mysterious character ever since the April Fool's Day teaser in 2018.

In his concluding remarks, Emil Macko made it clear that Five Nights at Candy's 4 would be the final installment in the popular video game saga. He also revealed that he had already chosen the music for the game's trailer, but cautioned fans not to expect the trailer anytime soon, since the soundtrack had been selected even before the game's development began.[7]

On November 23, 2019, in honor of the 5th anniversary of the creation of Candy the Cat, Emil Macko recaps of all the information he had previously shared about Five Nights at Candy's 4. All can be seen below:

  • It's a point-&-click free-roam game inspired by Sister Location, made in Clickteam. So it's not a full 3D game like you'd expect from something like the Unreal Engine.
  • The game is mostly non-linear in structure, so hopefully there'll be some replay value.
  • The graphics are all rendered in the amazing Blender Cycles engine (and yes I know Eevee is technically faster, but it also skimps out on a lot of realism unless you put in a lot of extra effort, which I won't bother with).

Following the initial announcement, Emil Macko also shared another image teaser for Five Nights at Candy's 4. The teaser showed the shadow of what appeared to be the CAT animatronic's silhouette looming over a poster of Forgotten Candy. This image added to the speculation and hype surrounding the highly anticipated final installment of the popular video game series.[8]

On May 28, 2020, Emil Macko made a post on Reddit announcing that Five Nights at Candy's was indeed not cancelled as some fans had feared. He also announced that the game had its own Gamejolt page, where further updates on the game's development would be posted instead of Reddit.[9]

On August 14, 2020, Emil Macko made the first announcement on the games official Gamejolt page answering the question regarding new characters. Emil, once again, confirms that the Candy the Cat featured in multiple teaser trailers is indeed the upcoming antagonist, and he will be the focus as apposed to The Rat. Emil further explains that Five Nights at Candy's 4 will feature the most amount of unique and returning characters, topping every game combined.[10]

For example, out of all the games in the series, FNAC 4 will be the game with the largest cast of characters, and by characters, I mean both new people as well as animatronics. But even so, there are still more animatronics in this game than in any one of the previous games. Along with that, I can reveal that many of those animatronics are brand new characters in the series, and are not just new animatronic versions of previous characters. And of course, since the first three games are considered as "the Mary Schmidt saga", there's an entirely new protagonist that you will play as in FNAC 4.

TeamEKS, consisting of Emil, Kane, and Sian, joined forces on March 23, 2021, to develop their debut game collaboration. CHASE: Animatronics, a FNAF Fangames inspired by Pac-Man's retro style, boasted the fan-favorite Freddy's characters. Upon reaching the final level, the credits will roll, and a glimpse of the upcoming Mini Candies' character will be offered as a teaser.

On July 19, 2021, Emil Macko made a post celebrating the 6th anniversary of Five Nights at Candy's. While he did not share any teasers or updates on the game's development, he noted that he had ceased sharing small tidbits of information about the game's progress. Emil also revealed that he had not made many newer changes to the game since the last update, indicating that the game's development may have been put on pause. Despite this, Emil expressed his gratitude to the fans for their continued support and encouragement.[11]

On February 2, 2022, Emil Macko made another update post revealing that he was happy with the progress he had been making with Five Nights at Candy's. While nothing significant came from the post, Emil highlighted a series of letters in the post. When listed in order, the letters spelled out the compound word "dontforget." This compound word was seen as a reference to Forgotten Candy.[12]

On April Fool's Day of 2022, Emil Macko announced a YouTube premiere for Five Nights at Candy's 4, much to the excitement of the game's fans. However, in true April Fool's fashion, Emil tricked the community by revealing that the premiere was for a different game called FNAC FUR. In one entire take, Emil sketches a series of sketches while describing the plot of FNAC FUR on the top of his head. Additionally, at the end of the video, a postcard signed by the Lollipop makes an appearance, implying the presence of The Lollipop in Five Nights at Candy's 4.[13]
