Remastered 6.0

Five Nights at Treasure Island is an indie point-and-click horror fangame originally developed by AnArt1996 and finished by Radiance that takes inspiration from Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's franchise and Slimebeast's Abandoned by Disney creepypasta from 2013. It is most notable for being one of the earliest known FNaF fangames, with the first version released on December 1, 2014. It is also infamous for its 6-year development history, with developers having attempted to finish it before it was officially released by Radiance in 2020.

The plot for Five Nights at Treasure Island follows the main protagonist named Jake Smith, who's a part of the Supernatural Studies Association. He was sent to investigate Discovery Island in 2003, which was four years after its closure in 1999. During his night shift, the toons began to stalk Jake in an attempt to kill him. Jake also receives a phone call from Greg Mac Lochlainn, telling him to stay safe from the toons in an abandoned building.

Following its release, Radiance announced a direct sequel to Remastered 6.0, titled Oblitus Casa, which serves as the final chapter to the series. However, Radiance later announced that Remastered 6.0 is no longer considered canon, as they announced a new version of the game simply titled Treasure Island.

Gameplay[]

Classic - Remastered 3.0[]

The player is surrounded by one doorway leading to the Lounge on the left and leading to the Meat Freezer on the right. The player has a camera monitor that allows them to look around the building of Discovery Island. This monitor also captures each character's movements on the cameras. The player can also turn off the camera by pressing the "Space" key on their keyboard, which prevents each character from killing the player.

On Night 1, Photo-Negative Mickey becomes active in Character Prep 1; he is seen lying down on the floor before standing up and taking a path to the office through the lounge or meat freezer. If he appears from the left or right in the office, depending on the path he takes, the player must shut off each camera to lure him away. Failing to do this will result in a jumpscare.

On Night 2, Oswald becomes active in the storage room; he is seen lying on the floor before standing up and taking a path to the office through the lounge. Oswald would appear in the center of the office. If the player sees him, they must shut off a camera to draw him away. Disembodied also becomes active in the Character Prep 1, where he turns to stare at the player and then teleports to the office. This will make loud noises that lure Photo-Negative Mickey towards the office. The player must shut off a camera to get rid of him.

In Remastered 1.0, there are new changes compared to the Classic version. This features different room colors from the classic version, a new hiding mechanic, and the addition of the Broadcasting Room and Suicide Mouse. Suicide Mouse becomes active in the Broadcasting Room before taking a path to the office. If the player sees him, they must shut off the camera to get rid of him.

In Remastered 2.0, this version would improve on graphics and gameplay, such as the addition of a roof camera and power mechanic, as well as new characters that were added, such as Daisy, Pete, and Five Nights at Treasure Island. However, in Remastered 3.0, Photo-Negative Mickey ended up being replaced by Willy, in reference to the Steamboat Willie cartoon, and Photo-Negative Minnie was replaced by Impure Mouse, who is a normal-colored Minnie Mouse.

Remastered 4.0[]

Since this version was cancelled, little is known about its gameplay for Remastered 4.0. The player has a monitor to look around the building and can turn off each camera to prevent the characters from killing the player. There was going to be a free-roaming section where the player explores the Pirate Caverns and the elevator's hiding mechanism to avoid The Face and Undying. There was also going to be a boss fight, where the player must confront the main antagonist named The Inhuman.

Remastered 5.0[]

In Remastered 5.0, this version is supposed to be the definitive version of the game from 2014. The player has a monitor to keep an eye on the character's movements through the cameras. Unlike the previous versions, this monitor lacks the camera buttons, so the player must press each number on their keyboard to change the camera to another location. The player can also close the doors on the cameras by pressing the "Space" key to prevent them from entering the office.

Trivia[]

Classic/Remastered 1.0[]

  • The original version was the closest of being finished, out of all the original versions of this game.
  • AnArt1996 had originally planned to have a flashlight mechanic in the office for the original demo. However, this was quickly scrapped.
  • Pluto, Suicide Mouse, and Photo-Negative Minnie were all intended to be Easter Egg characters.

Remastered 2.0[]

  • This version of FNaTI was significantly remodeled, especially the locations.
  • StellaWisps worked alongside AnArt1996 for this version, until AnArt handed over the project to The Purity Sinners.
  • Dead Henry model was not supposed to appear during the canonical main game. However, he was meant to appear during the ending cutscene.
  • CAM 11 was intended to be an entrance area to the building since the model was unfinished.
  • Hourglass was planned to appear in this and Remastered 1.0, but was scrapped in both.
  • Pete was one of the last things AnArt1996 did for the game before he passed it onto PuritySin and her team. The last things he made was Pete running past the window in Character Prep 2.

Remastered 3.0[]

  • There was intended to be a "boss fight" in Pirate Caverns, which would lead to the ending of the game. PingProductions recalls the boss fight having something to do with The Face.
  • Project D.I. was intended to be an Unreal Engine remake that removes all of FNaF-themes, and was the name for the planned trilogy.
  • There was a second trailer posted on PuritySin's YouTube channel, it seems to be lost media currently.
  • There are two joke characters for this version, such as DJ Donny and Ravewald. It is unknown if they were planned to be in the game.
  • Oswald was completely rerigged, and his texture was fixed for this version, so he does not have a dark color like the previous versions.

Remastered 4.0[]

  • This version was extremely rushed and not fully planned out. Blackout had pressured StellaWisps to create this version after the success of the Nightmare Before Disney.
  • The Ink-Blots were supposed to appear on Night 5 and a special night.
  • Ortensia was going to say Henry's final thoughts in her voice lines.
  • Blackout tried to stop people from creating FNaTI fangames by creating a "policy" where they must ask for permission from both StellaWisps and Blackout to show gameplay screenshots or a tech demo build. However, this received backlash from the community.[1]
  • While Blackout and StellaWisps are credited for this version, PuritySin was secretly involved with late development.
  • Malrat, a well-known developer in the FNaTI community, was going to be an Easter egg and a Custom Night-exclusive character, except it was intended to be a cube with Malrat's face textured on it as a joke. It would scream around as it moved around the map.
  • Undying was intended to only appear in the Pirate Caverns and would not be featured as an enemy in the main nights.

Remastered 5.0[]

  • There was going to be a small exploration section for this version, which would have taken place during the daytime.
  • There were intended to be extra Easter egg nights for this version. Night 0 would've featured Sparky; Night -1 would've had the player in the dark, and Night -2 would've had all the rooms be repaired.
  • Most of the assets in version 3 were made from scratch by AnArt1996.
  • There was an office created by Malrat for 5.5. However, this office model has been lost forever. It is speculated to feature green and purple lights, as well as a mirror.
  • All the characters were going to be redesigned to look like actual suits in version 3.
  • There was a planned secret in version 3; clicking on all the Mickey dolls in the office would unlock a new "chaotic" mode. This mode would make all the enemies faster.
  • At the end of the game, GOD would've gathered everyone in the office, leaving the player no choice but to run away to the docks to use a boat to escape the island. The player would've looked back to see Photo-Negative. Mickey is standing in the docks, staring at them.

Remastered 6.0[]

  • Remastered 6.0 has since been confirmed to be non-canon and will be retconned by its sequel, Oblitus Casa. As the cutscenes, characters, renders and visuals are being deemed as such, although the general story elements are kept as the only canon source for it.[2]
    • The new version of the game, simply titled Treasure Island, also referred to as 6.5, serves as a canonical replacement for Remastered 6.0.
