Helpy the Hamster, otherwise known as HelpyPAL, is a character in Five Nights at Freddy's: BLOOD & GEARS.

While Helpy served as a prominent mascot in Fazbear Entertainment's programs designed to assist employees, he was never a physical animatronic and was never officially recognized as a mascot. In 2002, during the decline of Fazbear Entertainment, Helpy was briefly repurposed as HelpyPAL, an automated computer assistant. However, due to budget constraints, HelpyPAL was ultimately oversourced and taken down shortly after claims of malicious code.

Description[]

The Helpy character originated in an internal program set to automate negligible tasks for Fazbear employees, later evolving into the short-lived HelpyPAL digital assistant.

Helpy is a small, off-white hamster with pink accents, rosy red cheeks, and big buck teeth. He sports a purple-striped black top hat, round glasses, a big purple bow tie, one black button, and a black business suit.

Unlike the majority of Fazbear characters, Helpy the Hamster never existed physically in the form of an animatronic. Instead, he was the primary mascot of a Fazbear program used to assist employees. The program would do things like delete or close unnecessary files or programs to help free up storage and memory usage. He would also monitor internet usage to ensure employees weren't using the computers for unauthorized reasons. He even has a special mode created for security guards at Freddy's, alterting them of any movement detected at cameras.

After Helpy's moderate success within the company, they decided to branch out the character into a personal computer assistant, due to the popularity of similar assistants at the time like BonziBuddy and KinitoPET. In early 2002 they launched HelpyPAL, "You're Helping Hand on the Web". Unfortunately, due to low funding, Fazbear Entertainment had cut some corners in the development of HelpyPAL. They had outsourced his programming, and thanks to that, HelpyPAL did not function like advertised and even included some malicious code. This would be yet another big blunder on Fazbear's record and HelpyPAL would be taken down later that year, though there were reports that the internal Helpy program was still in use.

Some images from the short-lived HelpyPAL website and program have been found, however, and they can be seen to the left.

There have been some rumors floating around the Freddy's community that the Helpy character himself initially originated as a representation of co-founder Henry Emily, though we have reached out to Fazbear Entertainment for clarification and have yet to recieve a response.

Appearance[]

Helpy the Hamster is an anthropomorphic white bear with pink and violet accents, dressed in formal attire. He sports a black top hat and a black business suit, both adorned with a black ribbon, a pink undershirt, and a violet bow tie. His large black glasses sit above bushy black eyebrows, and he has black eyes with white pupils. His muzzle features a pink hue, along with black freckles and a black nose. He also has red cheeks and two buck teeth on his upper jaw. The insides of his ears, his gloves, and his toenails are all the same familiar pink color. In promotional material for HelpyPAL, Helpy is shown holding a pencil alongside a blank piece of paper.

Personality[]

While information on Helpy's personality is scare, he does have an official non-canon parody account run by a developer of the game. In this iteration, Helpy is portrayed as a welcoming and loving character who enjoys collaborating and assisting others with general questions or correcting factual inaccuracies. When faced with negativity, he kindly encourages others to be kinder. Whether intentionally or not, he often plays along when he becomes the punchline of a joke, oblivious to being the center of attention. In certain situations, when sharing specific posts, such as images, he will display a loading prompt; when asked about particular questions, he will present a classified prompt. Additionally, Helpy frequently uses images of himself to express his feelings.

History[]

Helpy the Hamster was established on an unknown date, originally designed to assist Fazbear Entertainment with technological devices. He was equipped with a series of core features, including an automated file removal system to delete temporary or junk files from the Fazbear Entertainment database, as well as monitoring unwarranted internet usage and assisting night guards with motion detection on the cameras.

Due to Helpy's success, Fazbear Entertainment sought to kickstart their popularity during the company's decline, which began following management issues after the death of Henry Emily and the mysterious disappearance of William Afton. Fazbear Entertainment attempted to attract attention by repurposing the Helpy program and commissioning Liam Bradford and Brooke Monohan, who later become two administrators for The Fazbear Archive, to create an internet assistant program reminiscent of popular programs of the time, such as BonziBuddy and KinitoPET. However, the rushed launch of HelpyPAL in early 2002, prompted by oversourcing and lack of budget, led to widespread rejection of the program due to the discovery of malicious code within the system. As a result, Fazbear Entertainment continued to decline, ultimately announcing bankruptcy in 2003. This announcement marked the closure of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place and the end of Fazbear Entertainment.

At an unknown point in time, after Brooke Monohan purchased a series of floppy disks belonging to Fazbear Entertainment, her alongside Liam Bradford would begin repairing the HelpyPAL program as a side project. However, upon sending a message on the feedback page of the HelpyPAL site, photos of Freddy Fazbear standing in the dark would be automatically sent to the players email due to Helpy's design allowing people to send their photo booth photos via email prior to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place's closure.
